Questions to ask a recruiter:
- Do you ever have problems paying your instructors?
- Do you have a curriculum? If yes, please tell me specifically what is in the curriculum. How much preparation must I do daily/weekly?
- Do I have to submit reports or grades? What other work besides preparation and teaching do I do?
- How long have you been in business?
- What type of housing do you offer? Dont’ forget you’re going to be living in this unit for a full year!
- What benefits to you provide besides the main salary?
- When do I get reimbursed my airfare?
- Can I talk to some current instructors that work at your Institute? Can I get their email address? Verify some of the information in the other questions after you do get a hold of the instructor.
- Can you tell me at least a few people who have re-signed for a second year at your Academy?
- What are my working hours? Do I get weekends off?

Hi, I am wondering about a privae school called canadian International school in Changdong Seoul SK. i wonder if these many other canadian inernatioanl shcools are afflicated. i can’t really get much out of the teacher who was supposed to be emailing me about the shcool. he did once and that was it. it was brief and really uninformative. i tink i am repalceing him so maybe he wants out and would not risk saying anything negative. i’m having my doubts now and have signed a contract but hav enot sent any of my official documents, except my fingerprint background check. i have sent copies of diplomas and such. can anyone giv eme some advice. the recruiter is korea global connection. i just wrote and asked if there was a chance of my housing being changed, and if i could hav the email of another teacher. she wrote back but did not address my questions. am i locked in because i signed?
Sounds like bad signs without knowing too much about the situation.
You’re NOT locked in until you come to the country. I’d recommend looking for another school. I’m biased and would lead you to my school, but if you need help, just email my department at recruitingcdi@gmail.com — we are in Busan though. It looks like you’re looking for Seoul work.
King’s Kids STAY AWAY!
Steve Kim, Anna Kim and the senile old father who runs it all… beware beware, they are going to steal your money. Phone number 02 565 1605 and 02 3453 1998.
I worked for them for 7 years, building their school into a viable business, so much so that they even started another King’s Kids at Songpa. And at the end of 7 years I walked out with only a one-way airticket in my hands… no salary, no severence and none of the outstanding W3,000,000 in overtime they promised to pay….
Sad but true. Stay away from these thieves they are as corrupt as you can get.
Foreign teachers illigally forced to work at their kindergarten, an unregistered back street operation licenced to teach Korean only( we had to hide or run every time the inspectors came), they house an illigal chinese woman in their basement, she’s living in the under stairs store room…… Beware.
